a very unpredictable day...

so i volunteered to help build a deck for someone yesterday and wound up with a nail thru my finger. who knew?

the story is this: I was holding up a piece of wood for someone with a nailgun. they miss the wood and shoot the nail thru my little finger. I was in shock so the only thing i said was "wow. that went all the way thru." other than that i just kind of stood there in a daze. then my mom drove me to the hospital where i found out that the nail went all the way thru the bone and i would have to have it in a splint for the next six weeks.

day 1 with a splint: this sucks

we had a pretty productive practice yesterday and came up with a lot of good material for the new song. We are recording next week but I havn't determined a day yet because of baptisms next weekend. It will be very interesting to see how this stuff goes down because we decided to record on such short notice.

The new song we've been practicing is actually an old song. Actually it's the first song I ever wrote sooo I don't know if it's very good.

The song is called sold out and it is about serving God with our whole hearts and being 100 percent sold out for him.

SOLD OUT

at the athiestic meeting, they have christians that are fleeing,
and just what with they are dealing, they no not what they are feeling
and when they rise from their seating, through their lives they will be fleeing
just because he can't be seen, doesn't mean he's just a dream

Do you see their faces?
Then you know their faking

Sold out, sold out for Jesus, to be in this world but not be of it
Sold out, and I've been forgiven, I want all of heart sold out for him

Is a christian just a name? Should we all just act the same?
Do we act on every word, assuring God cannot be heard?
We all could be in the light, we all could put up the fight
We'd all have to undergo, God wants his word to be told!

Do you see their faces?
then you know their faking

Sold out, sold out for Jesus, to be in this world but not be of it
Sold out, and I've been forgiven, I want all of my heart sold out for him

aight homies, lets get down to business...

Well the band has been kinda lackin in the crackin lately. We've suddenly slumped on our practices mainly because of all the other activities going on. But now I think it's time we got back in shape. We are gonna start practicing pretty diligently for the next two months for sho. I believe the plan is to play at a local coffee place, and if that goes good we are gonna start going all around the central illinois area to spread God's word through our passion in music. I was playing around with the idea of a London band tour :) how cool would THAT be??? but to be serious that prolly wouldn't happen for at least a year. Anyways, I'm finishing up some songs I started a while back and I'm super pumped to start practicing these ones. It's gonna be a purty interesting rest of the year...

This weekend was an interesting weekend. I think I got a whole 4 hours of sleep total (thanks for that by the way Luke Wahl, Caleb Jones, Jason Grassi, and Drew and Josh Schumacher). But it was a fun weekend. We originally had a band practice scheduled but me and c-lab were unexpectedly roped into cutting down a tree at the apartments instead. Oh well, theres always the next time. Since school has finished I've found myself with a lot more free time after I get done at work, so I've been working more on finishing some new songs and working on personal projects for people. They are mainly art projects and I DESPISE them. I mean I love to paint and draw and all that jazz but when it is done for fun it doesn't have to be perfect.

A new song is coming together and I'm pretty excited about it. It's called "Give Up" and it talks about how we hold our dreams and ambitions and even material possessions above god sometimes and we can't truly become sanctified and christ-like until we give them all up for the glory of God. I love writing this song because it is convicting for me. I have all these ideas that I've made up for my life so I can live the way I want to live, but God has his plans for me and he wants to put them into action in my life and in everyones lives, and I need to realize how much my life means to him so he can put his plans into action.

anyhoo thats all for now. I'm gonna watch teenage mutant ninja turtles and get some well-deserved slumber.

for the glory of our king,
David

thank you Dave Obergfel for the best sermons I've heard in awhile. I learned much about how Satan steals our faith to kill and destroy.

DONE

I am finally done with school. Took finals on tuesday and am ready to work full time and work on music for the rest of the time. I honestly am super pumped for summer. It's gonna be a good time. I plan on getting a car of my own again, performing a live show with the band toward august, and going to gulf shores in september with a group of yg guys. So my schedule should look something like this... work, fun, work, fun, work. It seems to be a good balance.

finals

So my only final is today. I have very little confidence and so I am going to try and work hard on it. (I know. David Sauder and working hard don't even belong in the same sentance.) At least I am going to make an effort on it.

I am hoping that the band practice this weekend goes well. Luke will be coming over.... Saturday I think.. something like that. I'm hoping to get some band photos taken soon. I've got the perfect place to take them too. My cousin's house is very old fashioned and kind of creepy looking and so if my mother agrees to do it, we will have them there.

BAND PRACTICE...... FINALLY!!!

our first official recro band practice is in 2 weeks and I am PUMPED!

I honestly cannot wait to get the whole crew together and jam it up.

jam as in play music. Not the actual grape flavored food substance usually associated with toast...

We are going to be covering a lot of ground also. We might be the only band in the world that will be covering from a calm piano rock style to a hard grungy rock style... we are all into different things but with one thing in common: The desire to praise Jesus Christ through a modern musical experience. It's gonna be all good :)

twas the morning before church
and all through clarke
every creature was sleeping
while dogs outside barked
the showers are crowded
the pancakes are many
consuming old orange juice
and eggs aplenty...

NEW PHONE!!!!

I broke my cell phone last night at clarke house.

*Moment of silence please*

So after about 8 hrs of complete terror without it, i went to the verizon store 2day and bought a new one... and I LOVE IT. Finally! A phone i can connect to my computer! It costed about a hundred bucks but will be pretty much free after i send in the rebate.

So here is the story: I was working on some homework at clarke when we decided that watching the movie "Sherlock Holmes" would be more fun. So I sat down in the easy chair and propped up the leg rest. Little did I know that my phone had fallen into the leg rest gears and when I got up from the chair... well... you know. After I pulled out the mangled remains of a six year old phone, I came to the realization that I needed an upgrade :P duh

Soooooo....

I miss Gulf Shores.

Sure, the weather here is pretty much the same now as it was down there two weeks ago, but there are other things besides just the weather that I miss sincerely. Let me compile a lise:
1. fishing
2. mini-golf
3. no work
4. no school
5. all the free time in the world needed to write music
6. an excuse to be lazy

Plus, the environment is just so much better than peoria. It's a smaller but cleaner city I believe :P
I listened to David Sceggel and Coldplay all the way to school and back today looking for some inspiration. None came yet. Or maybe some came and I just ignored it. Either way, I got no new material to work on :P
For anyone reading this I have some prayer requests. First, I'd like you to pray for Matt Hammitt's little boy. I don't know all the details but I believe that the baby has a serious heart defect they just found out about so please pray for a healing miracle. Second, I realized that I have been growing away from God and treating christianity more like a religion than an actual lifestyle so I need prayers that I could grown in God and in his righteousness. That's all for now I guess.

lately...

lately I've been working on some more hip hop styled songs and they are extremely hard to come up with lyrics for! Hip hop music is very beat oriented lyrics wise and so it's hard to get the lyrics to fit the song right while still having the song make sense. For instance, a song about Jesus can't be like...

Life is like a sock monkey
Cannot feed a gray donkey

Not only would that song not make sense, but if I sang it in public I would probably be arrested and taken to a crazy house. I'm considering making a considerable amount of trips to west lafayette to practice some songs with Luke Wahl. I'm figuring any time I'm out there we can practice and anytime he comes to p town we can practice. Then we can go to mister Jeff Huber's pad to record and mix and all the good stuff like that. Can't wait to get a demo out. I have a feeling it is going to be incredible :)

what a sunday......

Well, unfortunately I slept in and was late for church this morning. Thats the second time that has happened in three weeks (I think). Oh well. Had to leave early anyways to help set up for my grandparents 50th anniversary. Us three older grandkids performed the Tenth Avenue North song "By your side" for everybody and I think we all had some fun. Then we came home and played some very entertaining volleyball with the cousins. Jake just wouldn't stop. He seriously made us all wet ourselves laughing during the game. Life for him is just too much fun. Play volleyball with him and you will see what I'm talking about!

WARNING: THIS POST IS RATED "M" FOR MORON

My night listening to James Macdonald

So the James Macdonald thing was epic. I was extremely critical at first because I had never been to anything like that before but when he started talking about his topic I was in awe. He drove home several very good points that I had never considered when thinking about the trials that christains endure. This has been something I have been struggling with lately in my faith. It was extremely encouraging when James told us that God gives us no more than what he knows we can handle.

A day in the office... ha, I wish

More like a day in the trenches. Spent the entire day in the sheet metal shop doing stuff. And you all know how much I hate to do stuff.

Pretty much the only good parts of the day was when Jones came over to hang on a lonely night (this is the part where you all have pity on me)... Also today, I went to lunch at the chinese restaraunt in bartonville. I got a fortune that said "there is an interesting musical opportunity for you in the near future." How sweet is that? But when did fortunes start getting so specific?? Phil told me that one time he got a fortune that said, "you have a secret admirer..... he is watching you." :)

Trying to read the whole bible from cover to cover. I've gotten pretty far. I made to chapter 11 of Genesis I think... I must try harder haha

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand it's bedtime

hello

today....

I suppose I should enter a better...entry than that. I'm gonna talk about my day now. I hope ur all ready for it.... here goes!

Today I get to go hear James Mcdonald speak in peoria. I've never heard him before but I've read a little of what he has written. I'm pretty excited and I'm curious to what he is going to talk about.

My mother woke me up this morning with Saber quite rudely, and to make matters worse, I had to vaults in the fridge and mi padre used both of them for my brothers lunches. Don't say I never gave anything to you Logan or Luke! I'm living in the loft of the garage now and one of the animals (who I refer to sometimes as roommates because they sleep right outside my door) had a little, well actually a HUGE accident on my staircase. The smell alone is enough to kill an adult elephent. WHY DO I STILL LIVE IN THAT SLAUGHTER HOUSE???

aight, thats all i got for now, peace everybody

hello and welcome to my blog. now mind ur own business...
